Sarlat-la-Caneda has to be one of the most beautiful towns in France, and one of the most visited. It's centrally placed for touring the Dordogne area and has many beautiful well-preserved golden stone buildings to enjoy looking at.
This is the Tower of Saint-Bernard, in the grounds of the Cathedral of Saint-Sacerdos. Legend has it that candles for the recently deceased were placed inside, to light the way to the afterlife, but there doesn't seem to be any definitive information on it.
